Problem-Based Learning Book Series
Publication Design
Client Task
The client tasked me with designing a cohesive visual system for a three-book Problem-Based Learning series that would translate complex educational frameworks into engaging, accessible print publications for educators and academic professionals. This included developing layouts, typography systems, visual hierarchy, and supporting graphic elements that created consistency across all three books while allowing each title to maintain its own distinct identity within the larger series.
Problem
The primary challenge was presenting dense, research-driven educational content in a way that felt approachable, intuitive, and visually engaging for readers. Because the books covered instructional strategies and pedagogical frameworks, the content included layered concepts, diagrams, and structured learning models that could easily feel overwhelming or overly academic if not carefully organized. It was essential to create designs that improved readability, supported comprehension, and encouraged sustained engagement across lengthy technical content.
Solution
I developed a clean, highly structured design system that emphasized clarity, consistency, and ease of navigation across the full series. Through intentional typography, thoughtful use of whitespace, visual cues, custom diagrams, and clearly organized information hierarchies, I transformed complex instructional material into digestible, reader-friendly layouts. The final designs created a polished and unified publication series that made the content more accessible for educators while reinforcing the credibility and professionalism of the client’s educational resources.
